Are girls safe on social media ? 

A survey has revealed that more than 50 percent of girls who use social media platforms face harassment or abuse online. 

14,000 girls aged 15 to 25 from 22 countries, including Brazil, India, Spain, Thailand and the US, took part in this survey by Plan International. 

The survey revealed that one in five girls quit or significantly reduced their use of social media platforms out of abuse, while one in ten changed the way they expressed themselves. 

39 percent of girls on Facebook, 23 on Instagram, 14 on WhatsApp and 9 percent on Twitter had to face it.
